Pencil me in.

Pencil skirts have become my new staple for work and sometimes play. However, because I am shortwaisted ( a.k.a: no torso) my hips are higher than normal and my legs look longer as a result. Once I realized this I pondered clothing items that seemed effortless to wear and the pieces in my closet that felt awkward. The pieces that everytime I went to wear I took it off and threw it on the bed thinking "why did I buy this"?

Pencil skirts were in the awkward to wear category however if I just pulled the garment up higher it seemed to look ok. So I took one skirt to the tailor and Bingo I made the discovery that I could be comfortable in a   pencil skirt. Since then I have expanded on this style of skirt but I must really love it because I have to take it to my tailor.

Have a great start to your week.

Till next time,

This was me after a long day of work.  I was feeling a bit playful and after reviewing the pics I look dizzy.  Oh! well.
I awoke this morning at 5:30 am.  This is early for me ususally I'm awake by 7:30am, what can I say I've been sleeping in since school's been out.  I had been wanting to get up early this last week and today I guess is the start of, hopefully, early awakenings.  There's something about sipping coffee while the sun is peaking out in the sky that makes me feel joy and hopeful.  Sometimes I ask God "How can a morning evoke such emotions"?
I think we were just created to desire change and mornings signify a new day with new possibilities.  I love that.

Lucille Dress(current) // J. Crew, Sweater //J. Crew, Shoes // Sam Edelman

I love dresses.  I especially love dresses in the summertime. In midst of blazing heat I feel better when I don't have fabric hugging my thigh.  However finding dresses has not always been as easy as it has currently been.  I mean you can go to Target and Forever 21 and many other retailers and find a cute dress for a decent price.  No complaining here I'm just happy that there are options to feel a bit more like a  lady on a budget.

So when in doubt just put a dress on!

Cardigan, Tank, Skirt, Bag, Shoes, Bracelet // J. Crew ( I love J. Crew)

This is what I wore to work a few weeks back.  This skirt I bought at J. Crew last year and I still love it. It's a cotton blend nubby tweed material that exudes elegance no matter what you pair with it.  I love those pieces.

Hopefully my facial expressions and body poses will look more relaxed as I continue to move forward with "Finely Fitted".

Till next time..

Wore this to a friends Bar-b-Que a couple of weekends ago. I thought this might be too much red but after seeing the pictures.. I loved it.

On another note, school is out for the summer and I couldn't be happier!

My goal this summer is to blog.  Seems small but for me this is a challenge.

I love blogs and have always wanted to start one.  So when I started "Finely Fitted" last year I thought for sure I would stick to it but something just didn't click.  I don't think it was external because I enjoy clothing and styling.. a lot.  But there are other things I enjoy as well and I wish I could say it is cooking and D.I.Y. projects but I'm just not that type of girl.  I know... that's bad considering I am married and we need to eat!  I am a woman I should love this stuff, right.  Wrong!  Sadly my creative eye seems to only lend itself to clothing.  This doesn't mean I don't cook or attempt to do the occasional D.I.Y. project.  It just means I have less to document on my blog.  Well at least I thought i did.

I realized that my spirit comes alive not only by fashion and styling but by people too! I love serving people.  I love learning about people and events from the past (History). And I enjoy talking current events.  And as I write this I think "Gees what a combo for a blog".  But this is me.  So, ya I will document my daily outfits because I love to dress up and enjoy how it makes me feel.  But I will also try to document my other passions.  The passion to go internal where people really come alive.

So, we will shall see if Finely Fitted can embody all this.

Till next time.

Blazer; J. Crew current, Dress: Madewell on sale currently, Bag;  J.Crew, Sunglasses: Banana Republic "Deborah", Booties: DV by Dolce Vita

This little blazer I wore almost everyday last week. This particular day I sported it to work however it is J. Crew's double serge wool so that means it is extra thick for a typical blazer. This double serge baby has taken the place of my outwear coat at the moment and I am pleased with that.

P.S. I don't like the way glasses look on my face but this pair from BR seems to be o.k. and they are pretty good quality.

Till next time, Monique

Blackwatch Schoolboy Blazer, Tee , Jeans, belt: J. Crew-Booties; DV by Dolce Vita

I call this post Blackwatch down because for one the pattern is named Blackwatch and second when I say Blackwatch I can't help but to think of the movie title "Blackhawk Down", that came out many years ago which I have never seen. But the title resonated with me because my husband and I used to love saying it over and over again and thought it was hillarious..that's what happens when your dating, your young and immature the littlest things make you'll laugh. Wait.....nothing has changed we still say "Backhawk Down" over and over again and think it's comical. All this to say that I enjoy this blazer sooo much and though it is preppy all the way I hope to wear it with other patterns and make it a three season layer.
