Perfect Shirt.

Well, that is what they are called the "Perfect Shirt". And I think J. Crew has got a point. This one I just picked up from their latest collection and I loved the subtle polka dots on chambray. When I brought it home and put it away I realized I had alittle collection going on of the "perfect shirt".  I counted 8. Some ladies feel like the collared shirt is too masculine but I enjoy them, too much.  So here is a peek of my collection and how I styled my latest addition.

Well we are back from a little getaway to West Palm Beach, FL.  We went to visit family friends and were able to get some beach relaxation on as well as some Florida exploration.  We had alot of fun and some revelations came to us during our visit that I will share later along with vacation photos.

This past weekend was hot.  The kind of hot that gives you chills.  I dislike the extreme heat and for the first time this weekend I thought to myself "why do I live here again"?  But, then reality sits in and I remind myself it's not that bad because this weather only lasts a few days and then we get a break for a bit.  And, sure enough this morning I awoke to a breeze and was immediately excited to get dressed again! But, back to the heat talk not because I love it but, because it got me thinking about a book I have been reading called Into Africa by Martin Dugard which tells the true story of explorer David Livingstone and writer Henry Morton Stanley. An excellent read if your into history and adventure. The vivid imagery and portrayal of Africa in c. 1870 is breath taking.  Not because it was romantic but because of the extreme trials these guys went through and weather was just one of them. So, when I was trekking in the blazing heat getting chills I thought of these men,  Livingstone and Stanley, and all the people who have lived through worse and immediately straightened up and told myself "you can do this"!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Chambray Shirt, Skirt & Bracelet// J. Crew,  Booties// DV by Dolce Vita,  Mini Clutch & ring// Madewell

It is Thursday and the whole week has kind of felt like a blur. I have not had a jammed pack schedule for a month now and though I appreciate being out of school I kind of miss being a bit busier. So I have been trying to get my house and reading list in order. We will see how that goes.

On another note the husband and I are going on vacation next week and I am looking forward to some sandy beaches!

Comfort vs. Fashion

Sweater, Blouse (recent) and Trousers// J. Crew, Wedges// Indigo By Clarks, Sunglasses// Tory Burch

I am a huge proponent of...comfort.   Looking cute and feeling cute don't always coincide.  When I am on my feet all day the last thing I desire are two feet struggling to make the next step!  I know this sounds un-glamourous but it is the truth.   Comfortable shoes have not always looked like the Indigo By Clarks I am sporting. In the past these types of shoes have been known as clunky old lady shoes.

I love all the Fashion pumps out there and the way they make an outfit look however it is just not practical for me.  Some of my favorite brands for comfortable shoes are Naya, Earthies and Clarks. There are new brands popping up frequently that I am excited to try but these three are ones that I have worn personally and love!

Later this week I will show you how to wear Birkenstock's!

Dress// Zara ( recent ), Blazer- Belt- Bracelet// J. Crew, Oxfords// Madewell ( last season),

This dress I purchased for one of my good friends wedding. I had been eyeing it on Zara.com and when I went into a store and saw it in person I loved it! I didn't walk out with it but I kept thinking about it.  Attending a wedding was the perfect reason for me to buy it and finally I took the plunge.
Now with a piece this detailed I had to think of other ways I can switch it up.  So instead of pumps I added this sweet oxford and as is if there was not enough detail I threw the stripe blazer into the mix.

Pencil me in.

Blouse// J. Crew (last year), Skirt// J. Crew, Bag// J. Crew, Shoes// Miz Mooz

Pencil skirts have become my new staple for work and sometimes play. However, because I am shortwaisted ( a.k.a: no torso) my hips are higher than normal and my legs look longer as a result. Once I realized this I pondered clothing items that seemed effortless to wear and the pieces in my closet that felt awkward. The pieces that everytime I went to wear I took it off and threw it on the bed thinking "why did I buy this"?

Pencil skirts were in the awkward to wear category however if I just pulled the garment up higher it seemed to look ok. So I took one skirt to the tailor and Bingo I made the discovery that I could be comfortable in a   pencil skirt. Since then I have expanded on this style of skirt but I must really love it because I have to take it to my tailor.

Have a great start to your week.

Dizzy with Joy

This was me after a long day of work.  I was feeling a bit playful and after reviewing the pics I look dizzy.  Oh! well.
I awoke this morning at 5:30 am.  This is early for me ususally I'm awake by 7:30am, what can I say I've been sleeping in since school's been out.  I had been wanting to get up early this last week and today I guess is the start of, hopefully, early awakenings.  There's something about sipping coffee while the sun is peaking out in the sky that makes me feel joy and hopeful.  Sometimes I ask God "How can a morning evoke such emotions"?
I think we were just created to desire change and mornings signify a new day with new possibilities.  I love that.

Lucille Dress(current) // J. Crew, Sweater //J. Crew, Shoes // Sam Edelman

I love dresses.  I especially love dresses in the summertime. In midst of blazing heat I feel better when I don't have fabric hugging my thigh.  However finding dresses has not always been as easy as it has currently been.  I mean you can go to Target and Forever 21 and many other retailers and find a cute dress for a decent price.  No complaining here I'm just happy that there are options to feel a bit more like a  lady on a budget.

So when in doubt just put a dress on!
